What Is Fertilizer?
Any type of organic, mineral, or biologic material that supplies essential nutrients, boosts fertility, and improves both qualitative and quantitative functions of plant is called fertilizer or fertliser.
Applying fertilizers is the best possible way to enhance the soil quality and simultaneously sustain plant growth. Generally fertilizers are divided into three main groups:
- Chemical fertilizers
- Organic fertilizers
Chemical fertilizers are any inorganic material of wholly or partially synthetic origin that is added to the soil in order to amplify the plants’ growth. Existing elements in chemical fertilizers are divided in two groups:
- Macro elements: elements that are used intensively by the plant, called high consumed materials including Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potash, Magnesium, and Calcium
- Micro elements: elements that are used slightly by the plant, called low consumed materials including Iron, Zinc, Manganese, and Copper.
A fertilizer consisting all the above mentioned elements in appropriate proportion is called “complete fertilizer”. Various plants require different portions of these elements according to their needs. It is important to investigate on fertilizers before applying them in order to prevent any potential damage of the plants.
Different Kinds of Chemical Fertilizers
- Ammonium nitrate: contains 33-34% nitrogen
- Ammonium Nitrate with Lime: contains 26% nitrogen
- Ammonium sulfate: contains 20-21% nitrogen and it also has about 24% sulfur
- Sodium Nitrate: contains 16% nitrogen
- Anhydrous Ammonia: contains 82% nitrogen
- Aqua Ammonia: contains 21% nitrogen
- Calcium nitrate and potassium nitrate: contains little amount of nitrogen so are not a common applied nitrogen fertilizer
- Urea: contains 45-46% nitrogen
Urea fertilizer is the most prevalent nitrogen fertilizer used by the farmers globally. Urea fertilizer, a white crystalline solid is known as a booster of soil and crops, providing required nitrogen for the plants. Due to the significance of urea fertilizer as a valuable source of nitrogen, Amoot Iranian Trading Company provides premium urea fertilizer for sale.
We are known as an international urea supplier, specialist in providing the highest-strength solid form of nitrogen in best reasonable price. More than one decade of experience in exporting high quality urea fertilizer to numerous countries has made us a qualified expert in nitrogen fertilizer industry.
Phosphorus helps a plant to convert other nutrients into usable building blocks with which to grow. Phosphoric acid is a source of phosphorus which is absorbable by the plants but it is not used as a chemical fertilizer. It should be noted that all the phosphorus of the fertilizers is not absorbable for the plant and it may be absorbed in future years by the plant.
Acidic and sandy soils usually suffer from lack of potassium. Potassium sulfate is the common type of potassium fertilizer applied in cultivation. Also potassium is added to the soil through decomposition of remained plants on the soil but it’s not enough.
Calcium and magnesium fertilizers
Calcium and magnesium are not common as fertilizer because their shortage is seen only in humid areas. Soil of humid lands is acidic so calcium and magnesium are used to modify this issue.
If we aim to compensate the deficiency of calcium and magnesium and do not want to change the PH of soil, phosphorus fertilizers containing calcium can be used. Magnesium sulfate or magnesium and calcium sulfate can be used to increase the shortage of magnesium.
Although nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) are essential elements required by plants, sulfur is needed by crops too as the fourth major plant nutrient. Soils that are exposed to excessive water usually suffer from sulfur deficiency. Sulfur becomes oxide in soil and makes it acidic so it is a good way to adjust PH of alkali soil.
Plants apply sulfur to make proteins, amino acids, enzymes and vitamins. Also it helps the plant’s resistance to disease, improves in growth, and in seed formation.
Amoot Iranian Trading Company is a professional exporter of sulfur fertilizer to numerous countries; specially Asian and African countries. In order to meet all requirements, different forms of sulfur can be supplied by our company including sulfur granules and prilled, sulfur powder, and sulfur lump.

Economic Efficiency of Urea Fertilizer in Agriculture
Today soil fertility is more highlighted than anytime as farmers tend to meliorate the efficiency of their farms and optimize cultivation in order to experience an economic agriculture.
Population growth and simultaneously increased demand in food and fruits is a key factor which pushes the farmers to apply all economic facilitators to boost their production. In this regard, both chemical and organic fertilizers as an excellent tool for land productivity are noteworthy.
Global increase in total nitrogen fertilizer use in recent decades is well noticed. The world nitrogen fertilizer demand increased from 111,400,000 MT in 2013
to 113,100,000 MT in 2014, at a growth rate of 1.5 percent. You can see the increased/decreased in nitrogen fertilizer consumption from 2014 to 2018 in below figure. Of the overall increase in demand for 6,300,000 MT of nitrogen fertilizer between 2014 and 2018, 58 percent would be in Asia, 22 percent in the Americas, 11 percent in Europe, 8 percent in Africa and 1 percent in Oceania.
Consumption of urea fertilizer as a nitrogen fertilizer has increased more than 100-fold in the past 4 decades, with a doubling in just the past decade alone. The global production capability of urea fertilizer is 70 million metric tons per year. Now an important question arises “why urea fertilizer becomes more substantial and consumed in comparison with other nitrogen fertilizers?”
Urea Fertilizer is the most important and the most consumed chemical fertilizer, known as a rich source of nitrogen that is used to improve soil fertility and consequently increase crop. Urea fertilizer offers lands the most nitrogen for the lowest price on the market. It can be mixed with other fertilizers or be used lonely.
For gardeners who grow crops like corn, strawberries, blueberries and other heavy nitrogen feeders, urea fertilizer will supply immediate and powerful applications of nitrogen. More than 90% of the produced urea in the world is applied as nitrogen fertilizer. Urea fertilizer, consisting 46.7% nitrogen, has the highest amount of nitrogen among all solid nitrogen fertilizers; therefore it has the minimum freight cost for each unit of nitrogen. Urea fertilizer which contains 920 actual pounds of nitrogen per MT is called the most affordable nitrogen based fertilizer, considered globally.
