9.6 million MT of staple products were imported to Iran in the first 5 month of this year (March 21st 2019~August 22nd 2019), up 2 million MT in comparison with the same period last year. Last year 7.9 million MT of staple products were imported to Iran.
The biggest port of Iran for bulk cargoes is Bandar-e Emam Khomeyni with 2.7~3 million MT capacity. Sometimes, in strategic situations, over 4.3 million MT of commodities are kept in this port (over its capacity) in order to support people’s food security!
